Prince George, B.C.- There is good news on lumber exports for B.C.
Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation , Pat Bell tells Opinion 250, “China is still looking very good. The first quarter figures show we are up. The last month ( March) was a little softer, we were only up 15% and the earlier months were stronger, but we are still, very, very solid.”
Bell says there is good news on B.C.’s world wide lumber exports for the first quarter, up 14% over all.
The price for lumber has really firmed up over the past couple of weeks says Bell, with a thousand board feet now selling in the $343 dollar range on the composite index. He says that should spell good news in the second quarter for lumber producers who have been recording some losses despite increased shipments of their products.
