A total of 42.59m of wooden box and flat pallets were produced in Germany in the course of the first six months of 2012, representing year-on-year decline of roughly 2.3%. According to figures published by HPE production in the second quarter, at 21.39m units, was down year on year by roughly 5%, after the first quarter had seen slight growth of 1%. In contrast, production value in the first half of the year, at €330.9m, was up year on year by 2.1%. In terms of production value, the trend shown by the two quarters was also the reverse, with the first quarter showing growth of 7% and the second quarter a decline of 2.4%.
