Weyerhaeuser reckons with further improvements in turnover and results in its Wood Products division this year. This assumption is based on the positive business trend shown since the beginning of 2012 and throughout the year. In the fourth quarter of 2012 the group boosted its turnover in the Wood Products division by 51% to US$848m. The operating profit was positive US$38m after a loss the year before. The company attributes the sharp rise in turnover primarily to better than expected demand for OSB and lumber, which resulted in higher shipments and higher average prices.
