The German blockboard manufacturer SWL-Tischlerplatten and the British company Halspan have acquired shares in Moralt Tischlerplatten, which has been insolvent since August 2011. According to the insolvency administration, the takeover contracts were signed on 30 April 2012 and the creditors’ meeting unanimously agreed to the sale. Thus per 1 May the main parts of the business operations of Moralt were transferred into the newly established Moralt AG. Within the scope of the takeover, a number of changes in the production portfolios of the two blockboard manufacturers are to be undertaken. For example, production at the Moralt location of Bad Tölz is to be restricted to laminboards and doors, whereas at the SWL location laminboards with spruce and light wood cores, superior veneered panels, as well as lightweight panels with foam core are to be manufactured.
