The Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) predicts turnover in the furniture industry to remain stable at last year‘s level for 2013. This was announced by VDM chief executive Dirk-Uwe Klaas on 9 January at the press conference prior to the IMM furniture fair in Cologne. This forecast is also shared by numerous furniture manufacturers who assume that market conditions, in connection with the crisis on a number of European markets, as well as problems on the domestic market, will be less favourable than in previous years.
